The American Dream

I was inspired to write this on Memorial Day this year.

Walking my dog down my wide, tree-lined, suburban street; a light breeze against my skin, birds chirping happily in my ear, the sun beaming through swaying willow tree branches, stars and stripes waving proudly outside Craftsman homes. It's like a movie portraying quintessential America and the American "Dream". But this dream was experienced in mere minutes through a stroll down my street. It had nothing to do with my job or status in the world.

It was a lovely marriage of God's creation and classic American elements that let me pretend the world was pure, even if only for a few minutes.
